Minimalism
Something about minimalism as a theme appeals to me. We have too many things, and striving for the next one all the time hurts us more than we might think.
These are not unique ideas, but they resonate with me. I’ve always preferred to buy a selection of quality items rather than a lot of cheap ones, and in this day and age, it’s becoming increasingly important, and more people are getting on board.
I’m not a minimalist yet, but there are some interesting ideas in the articles below. These ideas apply to both my physical space, where I live, and the digital space where I work. The word associated with this is "uncluttering," and I think it makes sense.
The first thing I did yers ago, without striving for a more minimalistic approach, was to eliminate most of the alerts and notifications on my phone. I felt more disturbed and unfocused each day when something beeped and blinked for attention every 40 seconds—getting rid of those made my days calmer.
Start the journey by disabling notifications on your phone and computer, and start making informed purchase decisions. That’s where I’m at the moment, and baby steps are better than no steps at all.
